Cross Country

On Tuesday 30th of August the School did cross country! Unfortunately the senior syndicate couldn't go to minouge park cause we didn't have enough parents to go with us.

For my race I had to run with the 11 yr old boys and girls because we didn't want to take too long. I felt really proud of myself that I got a placing and came 4th place! I did 6 LAPS AND IT WAS REALLY REALLY TIRING! When I found out that we couldn't got to minouge park I was really sad cause it is more fun running on hills and bigger, but I was really happy that I came 4th place!

Clay Sculpture Reflection

In Room 14 we have been focusing on creative explores. So we got a ice-cream container filled up with clay. For my clay work I have created a heart with a koru inside,wavy pattens on the outside and some tiny holes so it looks like stone.
The title of my sculpture is Te Aroha, I chose this name because it is to represent my Maori culture and is about friendship so we can all get along with each other.
So far I have enjoyed playing with the clay and also doing all the patterns and creating something that is about my culture.
The trickiest part for my clay was to stop it from cracking and try not to put to much moist in the clay.

Flox Artwork Reflection

1. We made a piece of artwork about flox,first we cut out our stencils then laid it on our piece of paper and then took the sponge dipped it in paint and then dabbed the sponge on our painted pieces of paper.

2. The easiest part about this artwork was probably when we painted the background.

3. The most difficult thing that happened was trying to stop the paint from spreading out on the stencil and the piece of artwork.

4. What I liked about my finished masterpiece was how I put it together and the background colour and all the blending.

5. If I could change this artwork, if I could do it again I would move the paper so I could see the light blue colour on the bottom.

Collaboration

Our big idea for this term is..... COLLABORATION. There were 3 different collaboration tasks,there were.

• Straws and sticky tape.
• Marshmallow sculpture
• Paper shape try and make the tallest tower.

My favourite task was the marshmallow sculpture. I enjoyed this task the most because it was fun making a sculpture out of marshmallows and dry spaghetti. Room 14 has animal groups and also group roles. The group role that I think I did the best was the police officer because you get everything from the teacher and get to boss everyone around..... Just kidding.
The role that is difficult for me was CIA agent because I hardly get ideas from other groups and I don't have questions to ask all I do is look and take ideas from other groups but do something a little different.

My Dream Job

Some Room 14 students went into a drawing competition about our dream job. We had to draw the things we wanted. We were aloud to use as many words and draw as many pictures as we wanted. My dream job is being a robot, mad man scientist like no other scientist and I can teach people all about science and do fun experiments with other. I am excited to be a scientist I wish I was a scientist already.

This is my dream job!

Athletics

In the past four weeks the Senior syndicate and the middles are practising athletics for athletics day. My favourite sport for athletics is throwing because it is easy and it is fun to throw balls and long jump is also my favourite because I can learn how to get further than the last jump I did. My goal for athletics day is to throw a little higher in throwing and jump higher so I won't knock the pole off and to land on 2 feet on my side.

Fruit Kebabs

On Friday before the holidays,
room 14 made fruit kebabs. We had to bring some fruit to make the kebabs,I brought in peaches. We made the kebabs outside so we didn't make a mess inside. What i enjoyed was doing the quiz and getting extra marshmallows. Yummy!!! My two favourite thing about the fruit kebabs was getting the Hershey's chocolate syrup but in the end my stomach got soar in the end and I won't be eating that stuff anymore. But it was Yummy at least.

My Habitat Box

The week before, Room 14 made habitat boxes.

A habitat box is a box that we did on our south Africa project based on the big 5 animals in south Africa,our habitat boxes have one of the big 5 animals in it.I did the leopard because I love leopards and cats.

The hardest part to do on my habitat box was sticking the grass on and the painting part because some paint would mix and I got frustrated.

The part on my habitat box that I am proud of was when I stuck the leopard on a log going up into the tree because my animal likes to climb tress.

The things I used for my habitat box:

• Popsicle sticks
• Pom Poms
• Green paper
• Match sticks
• Orange paper
• Soccer ball
• Black paper
• Blue paper

And many more things!

Our School Production

For the production i am in the Maori group.I am performing in a Maori song called Nga iwi e and he aha Ra and i am standing at the back of the year 6 girls. We start of doing Nga iwi e and working our way to the next song and when the middles come up on stage for their performance the Senior group walks down in lines and sing Hotumauea,we sing this song because it's appropriate for our school and we sing it in the Assembly every Monday.I am looking forward to performing in front of the audience and doing my thing on stage with all of my friends and the teacher teaching us on the actions for the waiata [songs] I am nervous about when i sing a song on the way of the hall because it is kind of a song that you sing at a funeral and i am really nervous about that.

Friendship Boxes

Friendship boxes are made out of coloured card with lines to cut on and tabs to glue or fold,and we have made friendship boxes with friendship notes inside them. We are going to use the friendship boxes to make new friends and to keep them. We made friendship boxes because read what others wrote to us and it makes you happy what they wrote. I found making the boxes tricky because it was kind of hard to put it together by using the glue.

Seven Sharp Interview Last Wednesday

Last Wednesday seven sharp came in the afternoon and did a video of us. I found when Doug Wilson giving us a copy of the book exciting because i was excited to hear that he said we got a copy of the book.
I learnt that Doug Wilson is making a part 2 of rm 14 book. The most of the day i enjoyed was getting the book and being on TV because i will remember the book and i was excited. I will remember me being on TV and keeping the book.

Seven Sharp Interview

At Wednesday 1:30 Doug Wilson and seven sharp is coming to interview. The author of don't mess with these kids is Doug Wilson, he wrote 4 other books about Tom Hassler. The title of room 14's book is Don't mess with these kids. The book is about room 14 trying to get home and they tried to contact the bus driver because the government controlled the region.I am looking forward to the interview because I want to see all of us on TV.

Whats Inportant About me

The inportant thing about Adelei is that she is an amazing mathematican.
Adelei is cuddly,kind and outstanding.
Adelei like to do art, play and sing.

Rm14 Field of Remembrance.

On Tuesday Room 14 did the field of remembrance. Room 14 made the field of remembrance by the flag pole. We made the crosses out of white wood and a double sided tape. It had there name and a sticker that represents where they are from and it has a poppy on the sticker. We made the field of  remembrance because it is to remember the people that gave there life to us and to be free. People can come and see the work we did by the flag pole.

Tabloids Sports

On Friday we had tabloids. My favourite part at Tabloids is the sack race. The hardest part for tabloids is the tug of war. This year for tug of war Rm 14 didn't win. I was hoping that they would win this year. It was really fun :)

Athletics

Tomorrow at athletics it is going to be a big day. I am feeling really nervous and excited. My favourite event is 200m run and throwing. I still need to achieve high jump and 200m run. But it is still is my favourite event. Tomorrow I am excited because my brother is coming to vardon and he is going watch the school do athletics. He is also going to wear his Hamilton junior high uniform. I am really excited.

Athletics

I liked practicing 200m run and throwing so far because I've liked sprinting since last year and throwing is easy . I have learned to sprint while I am running on the track. I've practiced my 200m run around my house and throwing at the park.
